Tahini Berry Toast
It might be clear by now that I really enjoy the combination of warm and cold, smooth and crunchy, sweet and salty and this is another recipe that masters that balancing act.
While creamy, earthy, Tahini is usually used in hummus it's actually amazingly versatile and when combined with berries makes a rich, filling alternative to jam!
Makes 1 Serve
Cook Time - 5 mins
Equipment - Toaster/Grill
Ingredients
Sourdough, 2 slices, spelt sourdough is my preference but as you wish! (or 4 mini as pictured)
2 tbsp Tahini, hulled or un-hulled (deeper slightly more bitter flavour)
1 cup Mixed Berries, frozen are cheapest! and raspberries are my fave for this recipe
dash of Salt, fine Himalayan is my preference
Method
Combine berries, tahini and salt in a bowl
Mash with a fork until combined well
Toast bread and Top with the mixture
Enjoy!
Tips
Tips - If you would prefer it room temperature rather than the hot/cold combo and would like a firmer texture try adding ground flax/chia seeds
Variations - Raspberries, blueberries, additional coconut, chia seeds, pepitas, nuts etc.
Store refrigerate before adding to toast, in airtight container for up to 4 days- it will be a thinner texture than pictured though!
